NAV 4.0 and Automation

I am using a third party .NET SDK with a COM wrapper to make it accessible to NAV. Everything seems to work fine, except the NAV client crashes sporadically. There doesn't seem to be any consistent timing or steps that will consistently cause the crash. The Automation variables may be accessed once or many times before the client crashes. The Event Viewer event is general (Error 1000) and provides no insight to the issue.

Has anyone else encountered this issue or have any suggestions what to look for to stop this?

    Note: Check that systems resources - are they low?

    Well, actually, I have this regulary with excel automation.
    At one customer, we use excel to do big calculations (and I mean BIG calculations). Why excel? Because the customer can do it's changes to the formulas easily in excel.
    I have the same behaviour with no solution whatsoever.
    I know one thing. Opening multiple instances of excel is not a good idea. :-k
