Error starting Navision Service

A client just called in a panic because they cannot access Navision. Turns out the Database Server Service stopped and will not start.

When I try to start the DB Service from 'Services', I get the following error - Error 1:Incorrect Function

When I try to start the DB Service from a DOS prompt, I get the following error - The Operating System returned the following error <87> The parameter is incorrect.

I've re-entered the parameters through DOS as the following:

servername=10.0.5.8
database = file path to DB. Not a shared directory
nettype=tcp
cache=682496
commitcache=yes

Still no luck.

I am able to connect to the DB by going directly to the DB as opposed to using the service.

I've tried running UNINSTALLASSERVICE and INSTALLASSERVICE from DOS.

Still no luck.

I've also tried using the server name as opposed to the server IP address.

Still no luck.

Then, I searched PartnerSource. ](*,)

Oh, and, of course, the network guys swear they didn't change a thing. :roll:

Any thoughts?

EDIT: One additional thing. I made a copy of the dbms.zup file and deleted the old file in case it was corrupted. I tried to start the server.exe from DOS. A new dbms.zup file was created but the service still will not start.
