Hi,
I have a problem and I don't quite understand it.
The system administrator can log in to nav 3.7 but other users can't.
It simply just hangs on startup.
I thought it was a pc problem so I restarted the machine but when starting navision up it hanged once again.
Can someone help me?
Thanks in advance,
JBeck

1) what do you mean "system administrator"? NAS? or a common user that is administrator?
2) What db you use? SQL or Native? Have you setup any users?
3) Have you checked from the client that works (administrator) the sessions that are open and if they are blocked?
4) Have you installed the client or copy it to folder? Try reinstalling the Nav client on the computers with administrator.
5) Have you tried to login from a client that doesn't work with the system administrator?0 -
Hmm, there was an install issue in 3.60, but I thought it was corrected in 3.70.
When you start, and Navision seems to "hang", try to Alt tab and see if somewhere in background there is a task running that is trying to install, probably looking for an msi file.
The issue could be that the user doesn't have persmission to acccess a file int he navision directory (common on TS and Citrix installs) or that the Install folder is only accessile to the administrator (Common if Navision was installed from a shared folder).
There are three fixes I know for this.
1/ Get the administrator to run as a normal user, and then on the Navision Icon, select RUNAS, and enter Administrator credentials. This should complete the install, and it may run successfully.
2/ Create a desktop icon to Navision by right mouse dragging fin.exe or finsql.exe to the desktop, and select Create Short cut. You may now be able to run navision fine.
3/ Try to uninstall and reinstall Navision.
Up to 3.70 this error used to happen a lot, and expecially on Citrix or Terminal server, but I have seen it in all kinds of installations, and normally they require different fixes.David Singleton0 -
Thinking back, the fix mayhave been on 3.70B, so maybe it still happens in 3.70A if that is what you are running.David Singleton0

You arn't using the silly shortcuts that the standiard install gives you? Don't you know you have to delete these shortcuts and create your own to fin.exe not only so the damn thing dosn't run windows installer every time a new user starts the program but also so that you can yous eht program properties.
BTW - does anyonw know what the installer is trying to do when you use the installed shortcuts?0 -
Check the user rights - the users needs to have write permissions for the client folder...0
