Your "Race"?

I'm surprised that they haven't changed this term yet in the Employee table. It's so politically incorrect it's not even funny, anymore...
Asking someone what their race is very sensitive, especially in the US. Besides, I was under the impression that we're all in the human race. Last time I checked, there was no reptilian race working with Navision.

Almost all the college applications ask for race. A lot of gov applications ask for it. Doctor's applications ask for it. The only problem is that it has only has a few options.0

even if you look at US population, it is split by race.

Maybe I'm over sensitive on this issue, however, I've kind of accepted that when someone asking what my race is they're really asking what my ethnicity is.
Race seems to me like we're all different speces that somehow share similiar traits. :-kConfessions of a Dynamics NAV Consultant = my blog

What's the fieldno? I don;t think it is in the W1 version.
Maybe US localisation?0 -
What's in a name.... everybody knows what it means, I don't see the big deal. Next year somebody's going to stand up and make a case that the word 'ethnicity' is racist in itself (or should that be ethnicist?).
The bigger issue is why the heck it is necessary in this day and age to even ask the stupid question. It doesn't make a damn bit of difference what your race is, or ethnicity, or background, or whatever the heck the word of the year is. To me it is most annoying to talk about it. If we've learned anything it should be that it should not be a factor, it is irrelevant. We're all people, let's leave it at that.0 -
Oh by the way it's field number 14020013, which is US payroll functionality I believe. Interesting thought: The ML Caption property of the field is ENU=Race;ESM=Grupo étnico;FRC=Race;ENC=Race. Looks like the spanish speaking community (hispanic? latino? latin-american? any other term?) is the only one getting this one 'right', at least while the word ethnic is acceptable.0

Unfortunately, it matters when you're applying for government grant, applying for colleges, applying for jobs, etc.
It's funny how the people who are trying to end racism is promoting inititives to give special privelige to people of a certain "race".
But that's a separate issue. I'm probably not getting enough sleep recently...Confessions of a Dynamics NAV Consultant = my blog

Yeah, but slave.exe is used for a non-living entity. It's not at all the point of this thread.
Other than filling out government forms, when was the last time anyone asked you what race you are on the street or at a cocktail party?Confessions of a Dynamics NAV Consultant = my blog

They do not need that, they can see you... :-)0 -
I agree that the word "race" should be dropped. Not only is it offensive, its also wrong. In this day and age its just stupid to have it.David Singleton0

Race is only skin deep
As we become more interconnected throughout the world, racial difference is likely to be diluted0 -
You know the word 'diluted' in a discussion about races is not a very good choice
.
Interracial contact only adds to the diversity. The more the merrier.0 -

You should check out the ETHNIC ORIGIN in Dynamics GP, with an option N/A in it. What statistics can I have from specifying this characteristic? Funny....Joseph Abou Nader
