One Production Zone for many Prod. types or one for each?

Dear All,

In our company there are three types of production:
1- The Roasting.
2- The packaging.

What I would like to know is whether I have to create only one Production zone or should I create two. If I can create two, does Navision supports more than one Production Zone? If yes, How can I change the inbound bin on the level of pick because by default it takes the inbound bin that exixsts on the setup level and doesn't allow me to change it?
Cronus example couldn't help me because there is just one Production Zone with default bins for the inbound and outbound.

Can anyone help me in this please?

Thanks in advance,
Rana Demashkieh

Are you sure you have to use the full WMS? These functionality is quite rigid and iflexible - having problems you mentioned and other as well. Are you sure you cannot use, like, Inventory Pick, Inventory Put-Away, where you can basically whatever you want manually? While they might lack a bit of functionality, I think that might be easier to add them as a customization than trying to make WMS more flexible. I tried that in 3.6 and was quite a challenge.

In my warehouse setup we chose the "Direct Putaway and Pick" so on the level of Release Production Order I have to click on function --> Create Whse Picks. At this level when I go to the pick to make the adjusment, I can't change the Zone nor the Bin of the Place line.

Is there a way I can solve it?

Yes, as I've told before, don't use WMS ("Directed Put-Away and Pick") because it's easier to add those features of the WMS to non-WMS Warehouse Documents you actually need from WMS than to change the horribly rigid functionality of WMS.

    Dear Miklos,

I tried your way, but i couldn't create bins. everytime I wanted to create bins the follwong message will be shown:
Directed Put-away and Pick must not be No in Locaion Code = 'Whse1'.

Will you please give me an example about how can I use it?

    Thank you,
    Rana Demashkieh

I hope you are playing with a testing database... I don't know what's the reason of the error message, but you should fire the debugger and check it out - implementing Navision is impossible without a good amount of debugging and development... but my guess you cannot change Directed PA&P after having transactions posted, but have to create a new Location...

    Dear Miklos,

I am studying the way of building up our warehouses in Navision, so definitly I am using testing database. As fo the locations yes I created a new one with no direct Putaway and pick and the message was always shown. I will follow your next advice by triggiering out the message and let you know.

    Thank you,
