Well it would be helpfull if you could explain what kind server you have, how many people are connected. How have you setup your current server.
Also searching the forum will help you find your answers.

    Dear All,
I increased the DBMS Cache at sever level
    Steps taken:

    1)Stoped the Service
    2)At server directory

    3)SERVER severname=***,cache=*****,INSTALLASSERVICE

    Dear Friend,

There are several ways of improving the performance. One or more solution will work in some and in others they will have no impact. Do clarify where you are facing the performance problem. Further the infrastructure also have a important bearing on the performance, so do mention that.

You can also go to the properties of the service. In it there is a parameters-field. Put there your new parameters and start the service from the properties. The service will take the new parameters and use them from now on.
PS did you enable the commit-cache (COMMITCACHE=YES)?
