Dear Experts
I require a suggestion here.
My client has two Line of Business(LOB) and under each Line of Business they have many segements for eg:
Line of Business1: Finance
Segment 1 : Tax Auditing
Segment 2: Statutory Auditing
Line of Business2: IT
Segement 1 : ERP implementation
Segment 2: Post implementation support
Their entire business revolves under this.
In NAV how or what can be recognized as LOB and segments???
I was thinking responsibilty centers as LOB is this right or do I have an alternative???
Expecting an answer....
Warm Regards
Shilpa

Dimensions are answer for you. Set global dimensions 1 and 2 code for LOB and Segment 1 and for segment 2 use shortcut dimension 3 code.
about responsible center:
"You can use the Responsibility Center window to record information
about your responsibility center. A responsibility center can be a cost
center, a profit center or an investment center. Examples of responsibility
centers are a sales office, a purchasing department for several locations,
and a plant planning office.
In the program, you set up responsibility centers to help administer your
business. For example, a responsibility center can administer sales and
purchases for one or more warehouses or distribution centers, where
goods are handled and stored prior to use.
Use the Location Code field to assign a default location to the responsibility center."

Hi Johnson
Thank you!!!!
I think Dimensons is indded an ideal answer coz in future if I've to find out the sales generated for a particular LOB & Segment it'll be easy for me to retrieve!

Advice: Use only one dimension to define both LOB and segment. This will ease in indivisual segment wise and consolidate reporting. Further you will save a precious Global Dimension.CA Sandeep Singla
