Smart Tag issue

I am trying to set up a demo machine with Smart Tags. Installing everything sucessfully by the book. Navision 4.0SP1 and corresponding add-ons along with office 2003. Navision publishes the datasets and profiles with success, but no smart tags in word. Has anyone run into same problem? i am sure someone had to install smart tags once.
I tried installing on standalone XP PRO and on 2003 SERVER from Virtual PC.
Profile.xml looks normal, no errors when running the tool. I am stumped.

You can switch Smart Tags On and Off by opening Word, Tools -> AutoCorrect Options -> Smart Tags tab.

You can pick and choose which Smart Tag Recognisers are enabled\disabled.
From what I can recall there should be a Navision (or something similar) recogniser that is perhaps not switched on??

Yes, i know what you're talking about. But there are no Navision smart tag entries there whatsoever. There are the ones that come with word by default only. Do you remember running into this issue, or you did not have this issue at all?

I solved this problem one week ago: you need to copy AttainSmartTag.dll (installed in SmartTag client folder) and WebCaching.DLL (standard .NET DLL, I can send it to you) into the BIN folder of the SmartTag web. After that, the smarttags will work. This is known issue for Microsoft and problem is in the SmartTag webservice installer...

If you have it, where did you get it? (webcaching.dll) I cannot seem to find it.

I got it working. There is hotfix described in article ID920325 Everyone should check it out, who has issues with SmartTags.
But, now i have a laptop which does not want to start NAS.
This has me thinking, are smarttags worth all the workaround?

imho, they are not. They are only great for demo purpouses. We did it at a previous employer with lot numbers, since we where in the food business.
We showed an email coming in with mention of a lot number. You could click on the lot number and navision would open, displaying all the info concerning that lot.
You can imagine the customer going "wow" in demo's. In real life no one ever used this...

Nonetheless, if you can find a good reallife application, i would like to hear from you.

Yes, it is very nice for th effect. Real use is good may be for someone working with just word, excel and outlook to have info from Navision and to be able to see more about the subject.

I just read trough the article on Partnersource.

Under resolution for this problem:

To resolve this problem immediately, contact Microsoft Business Solutions Technical Support to obtain the hotfix.

Why don't they just attach the hotfix for download? Why the extra hassle?

Anyway, I put in a support call. I wonder how fast I will have this.

Well, I must say I'm impressed. I got the hotfix today, and more importantly, it worked. The issue is sovled!!!

Yes, it was fast, because they know about this problem. It took some time when I was solving this with them... :-)

I have the exact same problem. But I cannot find the webcaching.dll file.

Could anyone please send me the DLL or tell me where I can find it.
