Accessing Backup Split Database

Back before ths split database I could copy the Whole database ' as is' to my C:\ Drive if I wanted to and File->Database->Open {It locally}
Then I could play around with my copy as much as I wanted.
Now that it's split I can put both halfs on my C:\Drive
c:\Database.fdb
c:\Database1.fdb
But I can't access them as a local database anymore. It tells me it can't find the second half of the database and it's looking in it's "LIVE" directory.
Once you split a database you can no longer just copy it to your HD and open it??? I have to do a whole backup & restore just to get a copy on my PC's HD??

You have to add the command database=c:\database.fdb+c:\database1.fdb when you run your fin.exe. The reason is that the original database.fdb file is still reference the directory on your server.
The only way around this is if your computer has the same directory structure as the database on the server.Confessions of a Dynamics NAV Consultant = my blog

If the filename1+filename2 method is not working, you can still use the SUBST command to "map" some folder as new disc.0
