I was trying to install Business Analytics Advanced on a domain controller and I kept receiving an error
So I found this:
Why???
Why do I have to setup ANOTHER server with SQL Server, the Navision database, in order to install BA Advanced???
Jorgito
[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]Windows NT user or group ‘<Server Name>\BA Administrators’ not found. Check the name again.
So I found this:
Errors that can occur during installation
[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]Windows NT user or group ‘<Server Name>\BA Administrators’ not found. Check the name again.
You will receive this error message if you try to install BA Advanced on a domain controller. The BA Advanced option cannot be installed on a domain controller. The installation program will fail it tries to locate the BA Administrators group.
Why???

Yes, it is a problem. The install process is not working on DC. "Local" account on DC has format "DOMAIN\Username" but on another PC in domain is local account "PCNAME\Username". And the install process is trying to create account "PCNAME\Username" but because it is DC, automatically is created account "DOMAIN\Username" but the process is still searching for "PCNAME\Username"... that's all...0

Yes, but why do I have to force the clients to buy another server in order to install BA Advanced???
It sound a bit stupid to me. Microsoft should do sth about it...0 -
It is not stupid. For me, stupid is to use DC for everything... :-)
Do not forget, that best thing is to have DC just as DC and not as Application server, Database server (with OLAP and OLTP databases), File server etc. If you will use the server in this way, you must be prepared for performance problems. And performance is one big problem in Live company...0 -
It all depends on the customer.
Our customers are all small-sized companies that have a maximum of 10 employees. They have 1 server that is used as a DC and a Database server for the ERP and rarely as a file server. Usually they do not need another server, since the existent is sufficient for their needs.
I do not understand why Microsoft FORCES me to use another server.
Maybe the client does no want or need another server.0 -
It is not Microsoft, it is Targit... and it is not "forcing" but bug... And of course, you can use Virtual server to run another non DC server on your DC for example...0

Hi
We have the same problem. Is there really no workaround (maybe an ini-File where the usergroup is noted)? ](*,)
Thanks in advance

No, there is no workaround. And this is not listed in Changes for the latest version of BA Advanced (NAV 4.00SP3, MS SQL 2005 compatible).0

I had the ffw idea but have no access to the installation at the moment. Do you think it could work?
"Run the antserver-service under a domain user and then run the configuration (import the license) again."

The problem is, that you cannot even install the ANT Server, because the install application wants to create local user (named <Server Name>\BA Administrators’) but on DC this means <DOMAIN>\BA Administrator. After that, install program cannot find this user because this "domain change".0
