Navision access over direct WAN, TS or Citrix

I wonder if it is possible to deploy Navision over the WAN with the port 2407 dirctly from a client to the server db.
I already read that it´s more common to use a terminal server or a citrix client to access navision from a client in another network.
It was mentioned that for the communication between navision and the client much bandwidth is needed. Is there any evidence about that? I mean does anybody know how much bandwidth is used by a "normal use" and is there any written document about that in the web?

I know this question seems to be dispensable, but for me and my diploma work it might be useful... [-o<

I don't know if there is a document about it (probably there IS some).
But I do know that Navision is quite slow on a 10 Mbit network if there are some users working.
Remember that all the business logic is on the client-side, so the DB-server has to send a lot of data to the client so he can process it and takes a lot of bandwidth.
Conclusions:
1) use a 100Mbit or better network
2) For internet or WAN, best use remote desktop or citrix or something like that.

The Navision Attain client creates a log of network traffic when it runs on Microsoft SQL Server. The network’s limiting factor is the number of packets that can be transmitted per second. A properly segmented 100-Mbit network is suggested. If the Microsoft SQL Server Option for Navision Attain is deployed in a 10-Mbit network, server-based computing should be used to avoid a bottleneck in the network (Terminal Server or Citrix).
