How can convert my Intranet into Extranet

Hi,
i have installed employee portal and it is running fine as an intranet. my problem now is to change to an extranet.Pls i need ur help urgently. How do i go about it?

    When I have installed employee portal it is giving a time out error 10114 how to resolve it plz tell me
