Hi All,
I am getting this error message on event viewer.
========================
The description for Event ID ( 109 ) in Source ( CLASSIC ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see Help and Support for details. The following information is part of the event: The combination of user ID and password entered is invalid. Try again.
==========================
Please advice
Thanks

I've received this error message numerous times and was because the server hadn't been restarted since NAS was installed.
Hope this helps.
thanks

Hi, the first part of the messageThe description for Event ID ( 109 ) in Source ( CLASSIC ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see Help and Support for details.
The second partThe combination of user ID and password entered is invalid. Try again.
The Login account that you use for the Application Server must be configured in Navision as a Windows Login with enough rights to do what you want to do.Daniel Zimmermann0 -

It's one of those "descriptive" Microsoft messages where you actually don't know what the problem is. It's usually the second part of the message that tells you what the problem is. Other than that NAS issues are usually related to user authentication (for instance when the password changes, but is not updated in the NAS service logon tab), or because the connection is broken (for instance is NAS and the database server are on different machines and the DB was rebooted), or because there are new database objects and NAS was not restarted.
Usually what I do is make sure the NAS user has proper permissions in Navision, make sure the database is running properly (logging into the database as the NAS user in a regular client is a good way to test this). Then I check CU 1 to make sure what the startup parameter is. Then I check the NAS setup (especially the nettype is important), the database name, the servername, the company name, the startup parameter, etc. Then I restart the NAS service (from the services window, not from the NAS snap-in), which usually solves the problem.
If that still doesn't work, then I would make sure that all Navision related products were installed from the same product cd. Sometimes a customer has updated clients with a hotfix but not their NAS. In that case you need to re-install NAS to have the same build number. This is not always necessary, but it has happened that the NAS executables have been updated without any mention in the change log.0
