hi
i am trying to setup a multi-location configuration for a navision customer.
i need to know what are the requirements for the network parameters in order to be able to run (with a decent lag) a navision client from location A on the database situated in location B.
location A and location B are not in the same LAN and i'm not interested in using terminal services or citrix.
thanks in advance, ask me if you need to know anything else.

hi gri,
can you tell me that how u will implement the concept of multilocation in Navision. B'coz it's a requirement for one of our client.
Will they make different chart of accounts for different location or what ?
Please tell me.
Thanx.0 -
gri:
In a remote setup like that it is recommended to go with TS/Citrix. Navision just needs too much data for it to work efficiently in a remote setup. It is even recommended to have TS/Citrix in ONE location at some point (ths is with a lot of users, but still). You should seriously reconsider using TS/Citrix, as it is by far the best solution for remote access.0 -
Please, do not use Navision client without TS/Citrix if you haven't LAN connection! Minimal bandwidth is 10MBit! You have to know that slow client means locks for other users.0

thanks
ok, i knew that it should be done using some sort of remote acces, but i didn't knew exactlly what is the smallest bandwidth that can be used. i wasn't sure that you need 1 Mbps or 10 Mbps.

it depends on the needs of the customer how you set up the chart of accounts and all the other parameters and data.
if the customer company uses just one chart of accounts, then i'll curve the solution around this scenario (using citrix or terminal service maybe), not the business around the solution.
if you want to know more about this, tell me what you would like to know and i'll try to help.0 -
10Mbit is really the minimum. It works but it can be a bottleneck. Better is 100Mbit.Regards,Alain Krikilion
No PM,please use the forum. || May the <SOLVED>-attribute be in your title!0 -
For the remote access through TS or Citrix there is minimum 16Kbps but this is a must. Of course, if you are printing on local printer, you need more bandwidth because some reports can have more than 1MB and you need to transfer it as fast as possible...0
