Should i use server date ?

This forum is for Navision questions, not for hardware questions. At best, this would be a question for the General chat forum.Regards,Alain Krikilion

Thank you for your correction.
Alright, i change my question :
is it save use client date than server date ?0 -
You can only use the system date, which is the date of the machine that the code runs on. In Navision you can't get the date from the server if you are working in a client session, at least not with regular keywords.0
-
how far off was this date?
As mentioned in a few posts you should think about using the G/L->G/L Setup-> Allow Posting From & To fields to Halt any posting with dates that are way off.
It's like a safety net.0 -
Thanks.
Alright, it's true.
Just like DenSter said, you can only use the system date, which is the date of the machine that the code runs on. It means, the date between client and server could be different. Don't you think it is a problem if client date is off (maybe because of the battery), every date on document that made could be wrong, unless the user is watching precisely for the posting date, order date....
Or maybe i was wrong with this ?0 -
windows has a feature that corrects it's time with domain server or you can setup it up to correct with a website on the net. That should fix the problem.0

Replace the battery, THIS will solve the problem... :-)
Yes, there are ways how to check server date, but better is to sync the date and time for example with running "net time \\server /set"0 -
Sorry for the late reply.
Yupe, those are true, but the feature in window doesn't real time. I have tried, i still can change the time, and it works. I mean, the user still can do "tricky" with the system.
Is it right ? Thanx before.
Merry x'mas n happy new year.0 -
Of course, user can change time on the PC, can use another workdate etc. But I think that you can change the time only if you have enough rights on the PC...0

yupe, you right. how stupid i am.
forgive my ignorance.
thanx0
