Item where Inventory Value Zero = True, but Unit Cost has a value

So Inventory Value Zero is rightfully true, and the postings are as expected on the value entries side (zero cost being posted).

I suspect that when the item was set-up, it was created with a manually defined Unit Cost. Now that ledger entries exist, I cannot change the Unit Cost. I cannot revalue the item either, as there is nothing to revalue (again, value entries are good). The Unit Cost, however, pulls into the sales lines and messes with what people are reporting as margin. Is there a safe way I can force this unit cost to zero on this item?

    You can force update through Configuration package, in lines choose table 27, adjust the fields to have only No. and Unit Cost and for Unit Cost take out checkmark "Validate Field", and add filter to the needed item (or several).
    Export to excel, update the cost to 0.00 or what would be the proper cost and import it back and apply.

    I'm on NAV2013. Would it break anything if I just forced the value to 0 via SQL for this record?

    in NAV2013 there's also configuration packages, but yes, You can force the value also through SQL. It will not impact anything. If the item is used in future and purchase again, the Unit cost will get updated.
