Question about Business Central and network drives

hello all! hopefully i chose the correct subforum, i am bad about choosing.

I am reading up on how to transition from NAV RTC versions to Business Central. i've read that dotnet customizations will not work and i will need to find other solutions...but that's a question for another day. I have multiple modifications for various customers that help with importing data (some that use dotnet).

my problem is this:

can business central view/interact with a network drive on-premise or some sort of "drive" or Azure Storage on azure as cloud BC?

example:

  • Every morning, a user imports orders from an alternate source such as a website (using an xmlport)
  • On the Sales & Receivables setup page/table is a field called "Order Import Folder Location" and it's set as '\\server\\fileshare\\Order Imports\'
  • a job queue is set up to run a codeunit that runs the specified xmlport above for any file it finds in that folder.

is this something that's able to be done in Business Central?

Is your Business Central on-premise or SaaS? Your dotnet customization will have to be reworked in order for it to work, but not in all cases.

I believe this is possible by setting up onedrive folder but haven't seen it implemented anywhere yet.
I recommend this NAV Techdays video some information might be useful for you around minute 28:
