How to instrument your AL code in NAV2018

We added the new function SENDTRACETAG to the AL language in NAV2018 to enable our app teams to instrument the application in Dynamics 365 for Financials. Then during the preparation for Directions 2017, we realized that our partners could access all telemetry on the platform as well as telemetry written using SENDTRACETAG. This secret is now documented in the Developer and IT-Pro Help for Dynamics NAV.

"[you can now] implement custom telemetry trace events in your application for collecting telemetry data. This data can then be collected and visualized for analyzing the application against the desired business goals, troubleshooting, and more."

    I had no idea what you are talking about until I realized you guys just renamed plain old logging to "instrument" and "telemetry".
