Concatenate two fields to display on a page.

I have run into the character limitations of Fields. I need to allow a technician to enter a description of what was found as the issue. I have found multiple instances of others running into the same issue.

I understand how to add two new fields in the table. I would expect to take the two fields, display them in a control that can display 250+ characters by concatenating the two fields. Then on validate (should the text be changed) split the string on the two character limitations and then modify the table to accept the changes.

My question is the following:

For a Page, what types of controls can I leverage to display two fields with a larger text capabilities? My plan is to extend the functionality of the Fault/Resolution Codes Relationships Description.
