Is there a way to provide filter options to charts that are created? Eg: If we create a Item Sales Chart and post it on Dashboard, is there a way to provide the user an option to modify dates for which the Chart data is displayed?

What I do if a user wants to change filters is creating a custom view on a list and use "Show as chart".
And for financial charts I use the Finance Performance-page.
