User Name = Windows User Name (NAV2013)

Does anybody know why the user name has to be the same as the windows user name? After upgrade from 2009R2 to 2013R2 all the user names were upgraded with the domain name as a prefix. Any solution or trick to deal with the NAV Notes? It is tough to find a user from the drop-down list.
