NAV 2013 R2 Client Installation fails

Hello again :)

I'm having some trouble with one of my customers NAV setup. In a nutshell, the RTC installation fails on any server (APPSvr + three TS).

Error: 
Windows Installer: Error: Could not register type library for file C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Dynamics NAV\71\RoleTailored Client\Microsoft.Dynamics.Nav.Client.WinForms.tlb.  Contact your support personnel.
Done configuring package. Id = 'RoleTailoredClient' ReturnCode = 1603

All machines run Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1. Also prior NAV 71 installation I had to uninstall NAV 2009 R2, maybe that's the culprit but I don't see how. The uninstall finished gracefully.

Anyone ran into the same problem and might have a solution for this?

    Aaaand I found the culprit.

    Usually, we patch our setup routines with hotfixes so our customers don't have to patch manually.

    It seems the mentioned *.tlb in Rollup Update 3 for NAV 2013 R2 is "broken". RTM setup routine works. Even a patched setup with the RTM tlb file installs just fine.

    not sure if i get it :? Did you copy this tlb file to...? and restarted the setup ?

    Thanks - I also reverted to the WinForms.tlb from the RTM, and patched install to Hotfix Roll-up 4 worked 100%

    I fixed it. I copied the .tlb file from a earlier released 7.1 dvd to the same directory in my latest rollup install-directory (Dynamics.71.NL.1349231.DVD\RoleTailoredClient\program files\Microsoft Dynamics NAV\71\RoleTailored Client)

    I understand that this made your installation work without errors, but do you know what the file does?
    I'm in the same situation, and I'm not sure what to do.

    If I copy the file from the RTM, the installation will work without errors, but I wont have the new file from the hotfix. I'm guessing it's there for a reason?

    On the other hand, if the installation can't register the file during installation, what happens if you install from an RTM DVD and then copy the hotfix files in to the client directory?
    The file file will be registered, but since you replace it with a new version that can't be registered, I'm assuming it wont work either, you just wont have an actual error telling you so.

    I'd really REALLY like to avoid having to hotfix manually after installation, but so far it doesn't look like it's possible.

    I've just applied the fix to the msi file and I'm waiting for the installation to complete...
