How to rename SQL Server 2013 Instance Name

Hi All,

Can anyone tell me how to rename SQL Server 2012 instance name? I'm using SQL Server 2012 version 11.0.2100.60. I would like to rename it to 'VOSTROI5'.

Please guide.

    You cant, not without complications.

    Solution is to install a new instance with the Right name and then move the databases.

    No it cant!

    You Can change computername but not instance name.

    The instance name is writen like a 100 places in registry, and no sql script or stored procedures, can change that. And it would be a nightmare to do it manually.
