Hi expert, I installed the development environment in a a client machine and tried to connect to database server, but failed.
The RTC is working fine in the client machine. Any advice? Thank you!

You haven't provided any details here...what version of NAV it is, exact error message, what settings you're using when trying to connect, what the database server/name is, etc. Hard to suggest anything based on no details. :)

sounds like he is trying to connect from dev client (also known as classic client) into the service tier instead of directly the sql server. If that's the case, you need to type the computer where sql server is running instead of the computer where service tier is running.

Hi experts, Thank you for your reply! I might not make it clear. In the 2013 server machine, SQL server and Nav Server are installed. In the windows 7 machine (Client machine), I installed the NAV development environment. I tried to type the server name and database name before opening the database from the development environment, but had an error showing server cannot be found and database cannot be found. Do I need to install the Development environment in another server machine? Please advise! Thank you!

NAV installs the SQL express with instance named demo
Do a lookup on server name and see if you see your sql server.
They can all run fine on the same pc.
