NAV 2013 R2 - code changes & upgrade & group 2 countries?

Hello everybody,
Now NAV 2013 R2 is out I would like to double check the following:
1) Does anybody know if the NAV 2013 rollup 6 application changes are part of this release? I.e. if the bug fixes have been promoted to the newer version?
2) Also does anybody know when is the expected release date for other countries? I am from the Czech Republic and I am quite interested in availability in our country?
3) With regards to upgrade from NAV2013 - I believe that pure upgrade of executables is possible? Has anyone given it a try?
Thanks for any info,
Igor

Hi Igor,
I took a quick look at the NAV2013R2 DE changesets vs. NAV2013 RU5 / RU4, CU12. Aside from that it has been completely redesigned the RU5 changes where included as code with the same effect in NAV2013R2. So I would assume they are on a similar patch level.
I'm out on the other questions, though.
with best regards

I also had a quick look at build number of NAV2013R2 i.e., 35473
Update rollup 6 for Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2013 is of Build 35345.
so NAV2013R2 must have rollup 6.

In the older NAV Versions, the C/AL build and the technical build did not always coincide, at least, you could not rely on itmohana_cse06 wrote:I also had a quick look at build number of NAV2013R2 i.e., 35473

.
But I just checked the pages , up to Rollup 5 there was a function CurrencyCodeOnAfterValidate in the unposted document headers which was removed in Rollup 6, and it's also missing in R2.Kai Kowalewski0 -
Hello everybody,
Thanks for all of your replies so far! Based on these I will skip all the rollups during updates and go for NAV2013R2 directly.
Otherwise from other topics I understand that doing pure technical upgrade of current NAV 2013 solution to NAV 2013 R2 is straightforward.
From the lack of the replies on the NAV availability for other former group 2 countries (incl. Czech, Poland, Russia, ...) I just induce that it is not close to the release yet (if planned at all?!). The whole web seems to be silent on this subject and it seems like these countries disappeared from NAV map. With respect to these countries MS seems to have chosen "good" strategy no promises - no failure to meet these ... It is just a bit awkward for any planning, sales activities, etc. Will anyone cheer me up by some positive news on that subject?
Thanks,

Hi Igor,
I just found this post here: https://community.dynamics.com/nav/f/34 ... spx#231478 It says that not all of Rollup 6 is part of the codebase of NAV2013R2.
with best regards

Technical upgrade works straight away. No issues there.
You only need to be aware that FBK does not exist in R2.
Also Company functionality ( create, delete, remove, rename) is only via Powershell.
To copy company between two databases you need to use Multi-tenancy.0 -
Just one small comment to the statement "Also Company functionality ( create, delete, remove, rename) is only via Powershell."
You can create, delete and rename companies directly from the RTC client in the Companies page just as any other records.Bardur Knudsen

Would love to see your script on mibuso Mark.
The nice thing with the fbk backup was that it could handle new fields in tables while those fields are not in the fbk. You could restore the older fbk with data always into a newer database.
Is this possible with the scripts too?0 -
I can confirm that update rollup 5 is included in NAV 2013 R2. Update rollup 6 is only partially included.

There is still one thing I do not understand.
Why removing existing functionality, if you do not have a better replacement.
Microsoft removed FBK functionality, and we have now to write our own tools, as a way around, for something which was working fine.
It was not perfect but it worked.0 -
Regarding release for Czech Rep. - it is "planned" for December this year, but, you know, we already have heard many dates... (it depends if the localization consortium will agree with MS on the rules...)0
