We have a reports where users want/need to build lengthy filters and because they are typically on field type Code, it would be best to use the lookup.

They'd like to be able to still us the look up and add | or & as appropriate. Is there a way to accomplish this?

Simple Example of things we've tried using the Customer Listing. The Goal here is to set a filter on Customer.No_ for CustA|CustB

Run Customer Listing
For No. use the lookup to select CustA
Then type "|"
*attempt to select CustB from look up - fails.

OR

Run Customer Listing
*For No. use the lookup then click advanced, select multiple customers - fails, user can only select one.

The seperater "|" does not work in NAV 2009. That issue is fixed in NAV 2013, but this will of course not help you.

That made me hopeful that I'd be able to build the filter using & and then replace, but alas, it does not work either. :(

I stubled upon this link, and thought maybe it could be usefull for you on NAV 2009:

    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/nav/archive/2011/11/25/few-tips-about-filters-usage-in-latest-dynamics-nav-rtc-builds.aspx

It does not solved your issue with "|" but maybe it will make searching easier for you on NAV 2009.
