Has anybody come across this issue:

I am running Windows 8 and Nav 2013 Development Client and 2013 Windows Client. When I use the Nav 2013 Development Client to try and access a 2008 R2 SQL Database it gives me the following message: "The SQL server cannot be found. Try again later or contact your system administrator". I have the firewall off on my SQL server and also on my Windows 8 laptop. And on the advanced tab of the open screen the net type is set to Default.

I am able to open up a SQL database using the same client on a Windows 7 machine with no problems.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I've had it happen with a Win 7 machine a couple of months back. It had something to do with the IPv6 and the DNS not using the DNS on the server, but rather the router.
Sorry, I've forgotten exactly what I did to fix it.

Did you try using just the IP address instead of the name of the server?

Yes, I tried just using the IP address and it didn't work. I disabled IPv6 and flushed the dns and also made sure it was using the correct dns server but still no luck
