Adding Salesperson Code to Item Card?

Salesperson Code is on Customer Card. It's a drop down box with a list of choices.
I can get a custom field for Salesperson Code onto my Item Card, but how do I get it to be a drop down box with a list of choices? I can get the little arrow to show up, but never opens up anything listing Salesperson.
Someone requested this because there's one salesperson who sells certain items a lot and we need to monitor stock to place a re-order for her when they get low. This way we can easily pull up the 10 or 20 items she sells and check.

Open Item Table in design mode
select Sales Person Code field
Click Properties
Set "Salesperson/Purchaser" in Table relation property and try..
