Setting up variants for LS Retail

Is variant framework necessary in order for the LS retail POS screen to show the proper variants?

Issue - there are over 300 items that have variants. I want the POS to only show the variants that are setup for each item. For example item X has only MED, LG & XL and item Y has XS, SM, MED & LG. Is there a way to do the setup so that I do not have to create multiple variant frame work for each unique combinations? I just want whatever values to show up on POS that I have defined as variants.

    Assign a barcode for each variant.
    Below are the standard LS Retail functionalities.
    1.When barcode is scanned on POS,System will not prompt for variant selection.
    2.When Item code is scanned on POS,system will prompt for the variant selection.

    Maintain variant wise barcodes to overcome the error in NAV.

    So without the bar code then we are left to have to create all the variations of variant frame work necessary for all the possible combinations for the items?

    Understand that if you are not having barcodes for each variant,manual selection of variants is compulsory.
    Can u tell me one thing........what is the difficulty of maintaining barcodes for each variant.

    The client does not use bar code readers.

    I was able to find what I was looking for. Based on setting of variant framework I can control whether or not the system will automatically assign a list of variant. Since we already have the variant imported in we do not want the LS retail to re-create variants.

    I am able to get the POS to only show the variant values that were imported in by setting the framework registration type to Manual and combination settings with value type of optional.
