Dear experts
Please forgive me for asking such a simple question.
To do testing, occationaly I need to take backup from client's server using tools->backup and store to our native database.
Generally it takes about 20mins to take the backup and about one hour to copy and paste to our server.
I would like to double check with you whether there is any way to reduce the time when copying the backup to our server.
Thank you in advance.

Not sure what you mean by copy & paste?
Are you saying it takes an hour to copy the backup file(s) to your server or are you talking about restore time?0 -

I am talking about copying the backup to our server.

I did compress the file, but it still takes long to copy to our server.

Your saying copy a clients database.
Are you in the same building?
Are you transfering it thru the internet?
Do you physically go there & plug in your laptop to their network?
Do they burn it on a dvd?
Are you saying it takes long to transfer from one drive to another?
What's the network speed 10/100/1000?0 -
Have the cleint provide the test platform. After all, they're the ones benefiting from it. Why shouldn't they foot the bill? There are no bugs - only undocumented features.0

Sorry I did not explain to you clearly.
I am transfering the file through internet.
I have to copy the backup to our VM. I connect to VM through company network, and the network speed is pretty slow. Honestly I dont know where to check the network speed for RDP.
Forgive me if I said anything unprofessional.

Yes, you must burn in hell if you might say something unprofessional. Your excuse is sufficient for now.
[/the thing where you say one thing but you actually mean something else]
If you copy the database from the client for backup purposes. a more robust and automated way is adviced.
If you copy it for development purposes, you don't need all that data. However, if you insist, I suggest to copy only once per month.0 -
