NAV Server Service is Suddenly Stopped Every Day

Dear all,

I have installed NAV 2009 R2 Build 33319 with 3-tier architecture:
-Server 1 : Database server
-Server 2 : NAV server (middle server)
-Client

My NAV server service can be started successfully. I can run RTC successfully too. But, every 3:16 AM, my NAV server service is suddenly stopped.

This is the event viewer :
Type: Microsoft.Dynamics.Nav.Types.Exceptions.NavNCLChangeListenerConnectionFailedException
SuppressMessage: False
FatalityScope: None
Message: The Microsoft Dynamics NAV Server cannot connect the Change Listener to SQL Server because of the following error: A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server)
StackTrace:
at Microsoft.Dynamics.Nav.Runtime.NavDatabaseChangeListener.SetupListener()
at Microsoft.Dynamics.Nav.Runtime.NavDatabaseChangeListener.TimerHandler(Object param)

    Is the issue is sorted after restarting NAV Server Service ? or still facing the same problem ?

    Have you check that SQL server is up and running correct? Does NAV work again if you restart SQL server?

    Thanks Peter,

    I have check and found that SQL server is up and running correct. Yes, NAV work again if I restart SQL server.. :)
    NAV can run successfully. But, every morning the NAV server service is suddenly stopped.

    Did you check the Recovery Options of Microsoft Dyanamics NAV Server service. You can get to it from Services --> Right click properties and there is a tab for Recovery.

    I have checked it and this is the result :
    1. First Failure : Take No Action
    2. Second Failure : Take No Action
    3. Subsequent Failure : take No Action
    4. Reset Fail Count After : 0 days
    5. Enable actions for stop with errors : False (Unchecked)

    Any suggestion ? Thank you.

    Check that you can login to a server using the accounts used by all areas of your services ?

    When there is some regular shut down of a service like this, very often it is because of backup or anti virus software. Take a look at those.

    I have checked and there is no antivirus software. What backup do you mean?

    Often the Administrator will have anti virus and/or backup software that runs at the server level (OS) it may try to scan or backup sql or the database, and not understanding what SQL is it will take it off line to perform the task. These days most software is SQL aware, but there are still programs out there that are not.

    Speak with the site administrator and ask them

    Also check the event viewer on the SQL server to see if it's rebooting nightly. I've had systems where the dba would reboot the SQL server nightly.
