Business Notification Problem

ConteMaxConteMax Member Posts: 36
Hi,

I would install Microsoft Business Notification Server and I have installed all prerequisites. I have used for installation a user with correct rights for table 9801 and for table 'License Information', but when I push Install button I receive 2 errors. The license file is update.

first error: 'Value cannot be null. Parameter name: value'
second error: 'Creation of NSInstallPath Registry Key failed'.

Thanks!

    There is more info in the event log. Please check it for next (previous) messages...

    For BN working correctly, you need license which is fresh. If you have license file older than a few months, please, contact Microsoft to refresh your license with needed modules (if you are NSC).

    Hi kine,
    in the event log I found this information:
    1)
    Product: ISScript -- Installation operation completed successfully.

    For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.

    and next

    2)
    Product: Microsoft Business Solutions-Navision Business Notification -- Installation operation failed.

    For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.

    I have contacted Microsoft for my license and Microsoft said me that license is correct to install Business Notification Server.

    Thanks!

    Under which account you are running the service?

    The account must have rights to write into HKLM\Software\Microsoft\ part of registry...

    correct rights to write in Registry entry, but the problem is unresolved.

    I have entered in 2. step of installation a Windows domain user with read and write permission to the table n. 9801 "Property Store" and read permission to the table 2000000040 "License Information". This user exist as a Windows login in Navision.

    Thanks!

    Try to create NSInstallPath registry key under the user you used in the install process (not for running the install but as entered in 2. step of install process)

    this is my snapshot of registers:
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\BusinessSolutions\BusinessNotification]
    "NSInstallPath"="C:\\Program Files\\Microsoft SQL Server Notification Services\\v2.0.3008.0\\Bin"
    "NSConfigPath"="C:\\Program Files\\Microsoft Business Solutions-Navision\\Business Notification\\BusinessNotificationServices\\AppDefinition"
    "NAS Port"="9333"
    "NAS Parameters"="servername=127.0.0.1,database=NA400"
    "NAS Location"="C:\\Program Files\\Microsoft Business Solutions-Navision\\Business Notification\\NAS\\nassql.exe"

    Under the user that I have used in 2. step of installation I have created manually Registry key 'NSInstallPath' without problem, but during the installation the problem is unresolved.

    Did you entered the domain part of the login in step 2. in uppercase?

    If yes, than I do not know now what you can try now...

    I had not such a problem and it is not clear for me now, why many people have the problem during install process.
