Errormsg when starting business analytics configurator

Hi,

I've just defined a Cube in Navision, now I want to run the BAconfigurator, but it gives the following errormsg:

The file name "C:\Program Files\Business Analytics\Configurator\BAConfigurator40.exe" -tSQL -s"WXP-PC0198" -d"navdafke" -c"CRONUS" -w -|ENU contains a character that may not be used.

Please check the file name. You can find additional information on file names in the documentation for your operating system.

Does anyone have an idea where to find the problem?

Thanks,
Dafke

Probably because you SQL Server is on a seperate instance. Looks like the configurator doesn't support it... .

    Hi
I received the same error when I tried to use the BA configurator with a Navision server Database. You must use SQL server database to resolve the error

    Hi,

I finished the setup of a cube following the instructions found at
    "Microsoft Business Solutions–Navision Demo Script.doc".

But when I select to run the configurator (which is installed) I get the
    following error :

    Microsoft Business Solutions-Navision
    The file name "C:\Program Files\Business
    Analytics\Configurator\BAConfigurator40.exe" -tSQL -s"DIMITRIS" -d"Cronus"
-c"CRONUS" -uvagelis -lENU contains a character that may not be used.

Please check the file name. You can find additional information on file
names in the documentation for your operating system.

    OK

The database is in SQL Server.

Do you know how to solve this problem?
Is there any troubleshooting guide ?

    Thank you in advance.

    Hello,

I have had the same problem like you.

First of all, your sql server, does it run on a separate instance? or on a 'local' one? It should be a local.

Secondly, it appears that the version of the BA-objects is also very important. I have eventually found the correct ones for the BE-version of Navision.

    Best regards,

I run Navision in a local SQL Server.
Can you please tell me where to find this BE-Version ?
What else should I do to make it play ?

    Thank you

    Hi
I've found this in Busness Analytics 4 Known Issue List

    1) Unable to run configurator when using TCP on a native server
When running a native server with TCP as the network protocol, the configurator fails to connect.

The workaround is to set up the server to use TCPs while running the configurator and then, after the configuration, manually change the settings in the created system DSN to run TCP. This will be corrected for service pack 1 of Navision 4.0.

    Bye

    Hi,

I re-imported the fobs and i went one step forward.
But then I get a configurator form saying :

    Checking Requirements...
    Error quering SQL Server.

We got this error as well, but we think is was due to the fact that we were running a seperate instance of SQL Server instead of the default instance "local".

I open db on server (local) and I get the same error.
When i see database information i do not see (local) but i see the name of the SQL server.

    Hello,

I have the same problem. Does anyone know how to solve this? Many others encountered this problem too, but no-one has an effective solution.
I have MS Dynamics Nav with SP3.
Let me know if you have a solution, ASAP please!

    Thanks!
