Can't start Navision Server service

Fran1Fran1 Member Posts: 6
Hello!

This is my first post and I have a problem :( .

We have a Navision 3.70 server with a license of 5 users. It works fine.

I changed the old license for a new one, with allows more users, but I can't start the service.

I got this error (in Spanish):

"No se puede iniciar el servicio Navision Database NAVSERVER en Equipo local.
Error 1: Función incorrecta."

In English, this should be something like this (sorry for my poor English):

"Couldn't start NAVSERVER Navision Database service on local Machine. Error 1: Incorrect function."

This happens with the new license. With the old license, it works OK.

Anybody can help me?

Thank you!!

    Hi,

It seems that the fin.flf file inside the "Database Server" folder has not changed.
Fran1, you better check. You must keep your new licence file inside the "Database Server" folder and rename it as fin.flf.

Hello, First of all thanks for your fast answer!

We make the following steps to change the license:
    1 Stop Service on server
2 Change fin.flf file in server
    3 Re-start the service

When re-starting the service we get the error posted in my first comment.
If I change back the license, everything works ok but I don't get necessary granules or users included in new license.

If we access to the database with this license in local mode, we have NO problem at all.

With this new license we are starting with Navision Proffesional. This may help.

    Thanks in advance.

Can you give us the details of the parameters you use to startup your service? (cache, commitcache, database, ...)
Now, let's see what we can see.

    Hi all!

Here is the script we use to install the service:
    server.exe SERVERname=NAVSERVER,NETTYPE=tcp,DATABASE="C:\bbdd\mydata.fdb",installasservice

    Thanks!

May be it is wrong licence... look into the fin.flf file and compare the text header with the old one... is there correct address? Are there all the previous granules? (but it is not necessary)

Something about your server parameters (this has nothing to do with the problem you have).

Why don't you specify a cache and commitcache parameter?

    Hi!
I'm going to compare both license headers and I'll tell you something.

    Thanks!

    Hi!
    The problem was solved \:D/
The granule "1,520 Servidor - Windows NT (Intel)" was missing in the new license, so I asked for a new license.

    Now it works fine.

    Thank you! O:)
