Similar questions have been submitted and replied, but in all the posts I cannot get a proper solution to my problem.
I am trying to install NAV 2009 R2 on a server that is running Windows 2003 with SQL Server 2005. No matter which type of installation I choose, I keep on getting the following error:
Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009 R2 Build 32012
Error Report
SQL Server option
Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009 Components for Microsoft SQL Server
Fatal error during installation.
Could not connect to the SQL database. (-2147217843 master ). This can be caused by insufficient permissions. Indirect permissions through Windows group memberships may not work as expected when User Account Control (UAC) is turned on.
Cronus Sample Database for Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009
Fatal error during installation.
Could not connect to the SQL database. (-2147217843 master ). This can be caused by insufficient permissions. Indirect permissions through Windows group memberships may not work as expected when User Account Control (UAC) is turned on.
Can somebody please give me some advise on how to fix this.
Thanks

The problem is most likely related to insuffient permission on sql server. Try to create database and add stored procedure to maste database, to verify that it works.
To get around the problem.
1. Start setup.exe and go to "Microsoft Dynamics Setup" screen (the one with the demo option).
2. Click "Choose an installation option"
3. Click "Custom components"
4. Pick your components (skipping sql server in this case)
5. Install

Hi Peter,
Thanks a ton

I have followed above steps but still the service is not created.
I copied service folder from DVD and manually created service using below link
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd301437.aspx
Once again thanks a lot..  :thumbsup:0 -
Hi Peter
Thanks a ton... I followed your instructions listed on your blog (the manual option), I then ran setup.exe as Administrator and installation done without a problem.
Thanks againFAIZEL0
