What is purpose of table "Avg. Cost Adjmt. Entry Point"?

What is the purpose of the table "Avg. Cost Adjmt. Entry Point" in Nav 2009?,. I think it is a new concept introduced in the Nav 2009. Can any one explain me the concept,and one more thing i have checked for a Specific item , it show the Unit cost rate from October 2010 only, but not right from 2008 . What is the concept in this?

    This table is used for calculation of avg. costs. When an entry is created for an item having avg. costing method NAV inserts a record into this table. When you run the Adjust Cost - Item Entries this record is deleted from the table.

    So this table shows the records which's costs hasn't been adjusted yet. This table exists on 4.0 version and the later ones. I am not sure if it exists in previous versions.
