Increase characters for Description

Dear Experts,

In table 27, current characters for "Description" filed is upto 30.

I want to make it till 120 characters. Is it possible to increase the character limit for this field.

I have tried by going into the design of table 27 and modified characters as 120 for "Description" field.
But when i am entering characters more then 30 it gives error of overflow.

IF it is possible, Kindly let me ASAP & how to do it.

    try with "increase description" or something like that...

    First, you need to increase the LENGTH of description field to 120.

    whereever the item description is used, you need to set it to 120 like in sales line,purchase line tables and reports etc.
    otherwise, you will get same overflow error.

    why dont you create a new field and use?

    Indeed, and one of the conclusions you should draw from that is that it is more complex than you think at first and please think twice before you start doing this.

    You can use the Item Extended functionality to add detail description for that item and the same information will flow to all Purchase / Sale documents.
