Connect using SSL

We have a client asking why we don't use SSL to secure the connection to their SQL server. :-k

I have looked at the Hardening Guide, but it doesn't mention anything about it.

Does NAV support it? If so: Is there a guide somewhere?
Does it noticeable affect performance?

Why would you need SSL for a local LAN connection? The security should start with not allowing unauthorized users on the LAN in the first place. Not a NAV issue.
There are no bugs - only undocumented features.

For the same reason we don't assign the SUPER role to all users...

Using SSL between client and SQL server is one of several tools and methods available to increase security. Different companies have different requirements and different policies.

But that is not the point. I'm simply asking if NAV supports it, and maybe if anyone have tried it and can say a few words about the performance impact?

My understanding is that 2009 R2 supports SSL between the RTC client and the service tier.
