Automation control for serial I/O

since the old 16 Bit OCX we used to use for serial communications should not be the choice anymore, I´m looking for another Automation Control, that offers the basic functionality like OPEN(params), READ, WRITE, CLOSE() and some buffer functionality would be nice. It´s just to connect a scale.

Can anyone recommend component for that?

Have you looked at MSCOMM32.OCX (installs with VB6):

the solution is so close, that you just don´t see it.
