SQL Permissions

I have installed NAV 2009 SP1 (demo) on a server.
When trying to create a new database, I am thwarted with an error message (unkown user/password). I am assuming that this is because I do not have adequate permissions (SqL) to do this. What permissions (minimally) do I need to do this? Is dbcreator sufficient for this purpose (right now i have public and security admin). Also, what is the minimum SQL security for plain old users?

user/password is an authentication problem, not a permission problem.0
