Goods In Transit

We have an Inter Company scenario where one is supplier and the other is receiver. We are using IC posting for sending PO from receiving company to supplier company. Supplier company receives as SO by IC posting. We have multiple locations setup in the receiving company. We want to utilize one location for In-Transit inventory, i.e, while the material is shipped from the supplier company but not yet received in the receiving company. The PO is made an advance receipt. And the In-Transit location will give the status of inventory in-transit & expect to receive. We are using a separate in-transit location for transfer orders.

My question is how is In-Transit locations/inventory is usually handled in such scenarios(IC Postings scenarios/Inter Company scenarios)? Is the PO created with the In-transit location? Or is there any other method? I mean if anyone has handled such scenario...would appreciate some comments
