Regarding User Roles & Permissions in NAV 2009 RTC

Dear Friends,
I have created a user in NAV 2009 using Classic client and set permissions & roles to him.
I have restricted him from using Purchase Order Screen. So I was not able to open Purchase Order Screen from classic client. But when I logged in to Role Tailored Client using the same user, I was able to open and even post data using Purchase Order Screen. Why is it so?
Do we have to set the permissions & roles seperately in Role Tailored Client?
If so, can anybody tell me how to do this?
Regards & Thanks

No PM,please use the forum. || May the <SOLVED>-attribute be in your title!0 -
HOw did you set up the permissions? If you removed permissions only for the form, of course the RTC will work, because it is opening page, not form. If you removed permissions for the tables, it will work in boths clients correctly... ;-)0

Hi,
I have logged into MS Dynamics NAV 2009 Classic Client as "sa".
I selected a windows user which was already set and applied the
default roles for sales, finance & Inventory to the user.
Purchase role was not set. So in classic client when I tried to open
the Purchase Order, NAV was giving out a message stating that I do not
have permission to use the Purchase Order Screen. But this restriction was
not applicable for the same user in the RTC. There I could open the
Purchase Order & also could post a transaction.
So my doubt is whether we have to set the user rights separately in RTC?
In RTC I could find Profiles associated with each user. It was like
Accounting Manager, Book Keeper, Order Processor, Machine Operator etc.
I could assign any one profile against the user at a time. But what about a
case, where Book Keeping & Order Processing is done by one user?
How to deal with this? [-o<

Did you use Classic - SQL Server Client or Classic Client for setting permissions? .:)
Permissions for RTC are set using Classic - SQL Server Client. Also, RTC uses pages & not forms as mentioned by kine.0 -
Profile have nothing with permissions... it is just about configuration of the client, which actions are visible, which fields, what is on the homepart etc.0

Hi,
But can anybody explain how to assign a Customized Role to a Role Tailored Client User?
Thanks0 -
Develop the customized role using Classic Client or migrate the customized role into classic client. Once your customized role is in then assign it to the user. (NAV 2009 comes with 22 pre-defined standard security roles and a "BASIC" role which must be imported to manage users access to tables and table data relevant to the RoleTailored client). Basic role must be assigned to all the users in RTC just like "ALL" role for classic client. Hope it resolves the issue.
