Does anybody know the advantages of upgrading to Nav 2009 executable from 4.0 SP3? What about the disadvantages? Thanks.

You will get prettier icons 8)
Somethings will be slower, and other things will be faster. The more you have optimized indexes for NAV4SP3, the slower it tend to be on NAV2009.
Somethings will work as expected, and other things wont. I doubt there is a complete description anywhere, but a few examples: Using RecRef now requires to be closed between each Open. Dataports now init records in some triggers it didn't use to do.
All in all you will need to test all important processes for both proper functionality and performance, and expect the unexpected...Regards

Unless you plan to upgrade to Windows 7 or SQL Server 2008, upgrading only the executables won't get you much.Confessions of a Dynamics NAV Consultant = my blog

Sure it does. You get Webservices and that opens up many possibilities.
You get also export to excel and word and record link.0 -

All of these requires additional programming. But just doing the executable upgrade won't get you these features. It just allows you these features.Confessions of a Dynamics NAV Consultant = my blog

The same would apply for web services if you do a full upgrade. You'll need to do additional programming.0
