reclassification journal (change serial No.)

Hello,
With reclassification journal is possible to change a Serial No.
For example is possible change item XX from "serial No."='A001' to Serial No='A002'.

I want change from serial no.='' (no serial) to Serial No.=XXXX, but it not possible.
When i set in the form "Item Tracking Lines" a line with: "Serial No"='', "New Serial No"='xxxx' Quantity=1 and close the form, the information are not saved on "Tracking Information", so when i reopen the form "Item Tracking Lines" no line is present.
How can i do?
I work on navision 5.0 SP1 (ITALIAN).

    How did you get a serial controlled item into the system without a serial number in the first place?

    The item require Serial No tracking only on sales, so is possible to purchase item without serial No, and assigne serial before shipping.
