if you are using SQL server why dont u apply settings such that automatically BAK file is generated daily at a particular time.
this procedure is followed by most of client and partner companies.
this will prevent manual work0 -
We are using Native database.0

Hi
On a Native Database, you can only do a complete Backup.

yes so in that case instead of creating a copy of FDB create a backup file i.e. fbk file.
this will save a lot of ur space too0 -
Yeah. FBK we are doing on a manual basis. But JUST in CASE FBK taking is forgotten on missed, I was seeking for some automated backup process.0

What is does complete bakcup signify here?On a Native Database, you can only do a complete Backup.
We are taking the backup of entire database, but this had to be automated so we chose to use Windows incremental backup.
My concern is if there is any other way for this with native database?0 -
no u have to manually create backup if it is in NATIVE database0

What's that?navnet wrote:we chose to use Windows incremental backup.
For native databases you can't do incremental backup, at least nothing that is supported by Microsoft. There's an external product that allows you to schedule it, I believe that was a tool from a company called expandit, but I've never used it myself.0 -
Using DWNavBackup-Lite from the dowload section
http://www.mibuso.com/dlinfo.asp?FileID=879
this is how we do ours
http://savatage99.googlepages.com/MyBackup.pdf
By using this method it automatically backup up daily.
In the morning it takes a 38gb database and give me a 2gb zipped backup
which can be thrown on a flash drive or uploaded to a ftp site, etc.
The full version of DWNavBackup-Lite can be found here:
http://www.navierra.com/en/products.php
ps: You can find the Expandit Backup Utility here:

Why don't you just use HotCopy?
look in Server\program files\Microsoft Dynamics NAV\Database Server on your install CD.David Singleton0
