Hi, expert. We are using Navision 4.0. Since the new OP Window 7 will come out soon, is our version compatible with it? If not, what hot fix we need to install? Appreciate it!!

Try searching on this forum. There has been numerous discussions about it. Essentially, if you do not have the right processor, you'll have the same restrictions as Vista.Confessions of a Dynamics NAV Consultant = my blog

Why not ask your current partner for the files?Confessions of a Dynamics NAV Consultant = my blog

I got two files from our partner today. There are two files named dis1.iso and dis2.iso. There is no way to install it. Please help! Thank you!0
-
.iso is a disk image. Use either your cd-burning software or winrar to etract it.0
-
Or you can mount it into some virtual DVD like Virtual-CloneDrive from Slysoft (it's free).0
-
Don't forgot to check the build number on the images after you install, as you may need a further download which the partner should have given you for your client to run on 7.0
-
The file has been installed, But I had the following message when I ran the application:
The navsion database on the server must be converted before your can use it with this version of Microsoft Business Solution-Navision.
If you convert the database, older version will no longer be able to open it.
Is it safe to convert the database? Appreciate it!!0 -
Get a test database and upgrade it.
You are just doing a technical upgrade so your old objects will run on a 4.3 client it should be safe but always best to test.0 -
Thank you! Would you please give me some instructions of how to test the database? Appreciate it!!0
-
you print your financial reports before and after the upgrade. You print your aging and any other important reports.
You perform all the processes for each user and make sure you get the same results before and after.0 -
Thank you! Per your advice, I will do some test. But will it (SP3) work in window 7 on the Client while our server is running SP2 on XP? As I read some of posts, all mention that Virtualization is the only way. Please advise! Appreciate it!!0
-
I am going to test it today. But I am little afraid even if I am going to back up the database before I do it. If the client is connected to the server, when click OK button on the client after the message of NAVISION SERVER MUST BE CONVERTED BEFORE OU CAN USE IT WITH THIS VERSION, will the database on the server be converted from the Client Machine? Or do I have to upgrade the server from SP2 to SP3 before I do it? Please advise!! Appreciate it!!!!!0
-
you can upgrade the db from the client. just click ok and the db will be updated from the client.
Make sure you do this in test environment first and test it.0 -
Thank you! Do I have to login as SA in the client machine?0
-
Yes.0
-
But I cannot login to the database using sa. Would you please let me know what is wrong? Thank you!0
-
Login as your regular super user. Click on tools->Securty->database user-> Add SA and give it SUPER ROLe.
If you are on enhanced security mode. Click on Tools->Security. Sync Single user.
That option is enabled when you have enhanced security and the database user window open pointing to the specific user.0 -
thank you ara3n! since we don't have the test server, if I do it directly from our production server ( will back up before doing it), what is the worst we will prepare for? Does the test enviroment mean that I cannot connect client directly to the production server? If the database is converted from the client machine, will the rest of the client machines using SP2 have any problems? Since this is the first time for me to do this, I ask too many questions.
I appreciate your great help! Thank you!!0 -
You can do it on production as long has you have a backup. And you can always use the backup to restore back to the old one.0
-
So does it affect the other machine which are still using SP2 after the conversion? Thanks!0
-
once you upgrade (and make sure you are the only person connected to the db), the other client will not be able to connect to the db. They need to update their executable as well.0
-
Horse, do your self a favor and call your partner to support you in this upgrade. You don't want you whole company down whilst waiting to fix it if something goes wrong.David Singleton0
