Using Segments in NAV 5.0 SP!

We've been using segments for quite some time now, however, in the past few months the time it takes to populate a segment with specific criteria is like watching paint dry. It took 30 minutes this afternoon to add 97 contacts to a segment. It's almost not worth using them and yet it is a key tool for us and we don't want to lose the additional functionality this tool has brought to the table.
Has anyone else experienced this problem and if so, can you share your resolution (assuming you have found one)?

Hi Alex,
Thanks for your response. We are native, not SQL. We have done a lot of modifications, but nothing specifically to the CRM portion of the system.0 -
are you setting any filters? And are you selecting the right key?0

are you setting any filters? Yes, I'm selecting contacts based on specific filters. That hasn't changed from prior to the slowdown.
And are you selecting the right key? I'm not sure what you mean by this? But, I am getting the right results - it just takes 30 minutes.
I've pasted part of my documentation below for one of the emails we do on a weekly basis. Image file attached.
Add Contacts to your Segment:
Use Functions -- Segment --Add Contacts:
Select students who meet the following criteria:
• Are enrolled in the “PK” program.
• Started their program within a defined period of time.
• Are not “Closed”. Are “Active” and/or possibly “Pending”.
• An email address is present.
• Are currently working on their first component.0 -
you need to create a new key on contact table with fields you are filtering on. start date, current status, current program code, email.
Then change the report so that the contact dataitem has that new code.
after that the report should fly through the process.0 -
Thank you for the information on the keys. I will let you know how we make out with that!0

you are welcome and good luck.0

Update: Keys have been created and the filtering modified. Still we have no resolution to this on-going problem. Yesterday I did a test to pull 148 contacts into a segment. It took 1 hour and 12 minutes to complete. Any other suggestions? We've also upped our DBMS Cache. Would moving from Native to SQL make any difference?0
