Hi All,
One of our client is using Nav2009 RTC.When the user is trying to assign the serial nos. for sales order line(through item tracking lines-->functions-->selectentries) for the quantity of morethan 300 system is taking more than 20 mins or sometimes it is hanging while saving the item tracking lines.
Earlier it was working fine for the sales line of quantity 400.
We incresed the cache memory also but still same problem.
Can any one give the solution ?

The delay is not becos of the value you put in the "Qty" field.
Check the following
1. The no. of users using the database at the same time.
2. The size remaining in the drive in which the Nav 2009 is installed
3. The same scenario in Nav 2009 default database (Cronus)
4. The same scenario in the same database you are using, but in different company.
The only thing is we should start developing to think in a different way under where we have to find the solution.
GIve the feedback after checking. Thanks & Regards

Hi Santhosh,
Thanks for your reply.
we have taken the client database backup.& tried in our system.
1. so no of users used the database is one ...but same problem is coming
2.Size of the c- drive where Nav 2009 installed is having 15GB remaining size.so size is not the reason
3.Same scenario we checked in default .it works fine.there is no problem.
4.same scenario we checked in same database with different compnay it works fine. that means nothing wrong in Database objects.
5.we have given the same Item tracking setup in client company & checked same problem is coming.
i could not able to find the reason for this problem..... ?
can anyone help us.......?0 -
Try rebuilding (or managing better) indexes in source tables, maintaining the SIFT records...-Mihail- [MCTS]0

hi,
we tried by rebuilding the indexes, even though the same problem continuing.
for Item Tracking we are using the both lot & serial Combination. If i assign the Lot& serial no for new items system is fast .but for existed items which are having ledger entries is taking time.
Is this prb bcoz of Lot and Serial No.?0 -
I guess it is VSIFT views. I remember my report from SQL Perform - in worse case Table recs were about 400K and SIFT records were 32M+ (for single table). Then, when i managed some tunning, process time was reduced from 1h to 10 minutes.-Mihail- [MCTS]0

what kind of tunning did you do o VSIFT views?0

Unfortenately, I did that on NAV 5.0 which use SIFT tables, I am not very familiar at this moment with the VSIFT, but I guess removing unneeded views will accelerate the performance.
I repeat, I am not sure what effect will you have, I'm just guessing!!!-Mihail- [MCTS]0
