Deleting an item card with item ledger entries

I have many item cards for items that are obsolete. I have no open PO, no open SO, no items on hands, and very old transactions, yet Nav. does not let me delete these items. How can it be done?

    don't know how to delete them, but rather then delete them, what we did, was add a new field to the item table. a boolean field called obsolete. then we check this field.

    and set a filter on the item list etc. to only show Items with out the check mark in the Obsolete field. so the records do not show on normal list, that data is still there.

    if we ever need to see it, we can remove the filter.

    If you really want to delete them you may try to run the compress data function so the old ledger entries are compress into summary entries, then they won't be linked to the item anylonger, this may allow you to delete them, we don't date compress so I am not sure if this will work either

    You want to follow the advice to add a field allowing you to filter out these items from view or on reports. You do not want to delete these items, or their item ledger or value ledger entries, because these are linked to historical transactions in general ledger, purchase, sales, etc.

    One way is to run the Date Compression-Report for item ledger entries. Than you can delete those items.
