Cancel Lot Numbers system on Items with entries

Hi,

I have a database (V3.60) from a customer within Items are handled with Serial and Lot Numbers.
I would like to cancel the items from using Lot Numbers no more.
So I have deleted the field "Lot Nos" for an Item on wich there are already entries.
However I get an error message when trying to post the Item
from a Sales order for instance, telling me that "Lot Number is required for Item ...".

Could please someone help ?

    Not quite that easy :-)
    You might need to make an inventory adjustment to zero to insure all item ledger and warehouse entries with lotnumbers are closed. Secondly you should change the item tracking code of the items. (Well, you can try to change the code first or the setup of the code, but I doubt you will be allowed when you have items in stock.)
